2 · Volume & certificate price

The annual import volume drives the de minimis test (50 tonnes, cumulative across all your CBAM goods) and the size of the obligation. The certificate price is pre-filled with the Q1 2026 average (€75.36/tCO₂e).

Explanation

The CBAM certificate price follows the weekly average of EU ETS auctions (Art. 21 Reg. 2023/956). Certificate sales via the central EU platform start in February 2027.

3 · Emission data & deduction

Without verified emission data the Annex I IR 2025/2621 default values apply plus a surcharge (10% in 2026 for cement/steel/aluminium; 1% fertilisers). A carbon price effectively paid in the exporting country may be deducted (Art. 9).
