Scope: EU-origin goods are out of scope. Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland (equivalent ETS) are exempt. De minimis: ≤ 50 t/year cumulative across all CBAM goods (not applicable to electricity and hydrogen).

Combined Nomenclature code of the CBAM good (Annex I). Determines sector, unit and default emission factor.

Country of origin *

EU countries are out of scope; Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland (equivalent ETS) are exempt.

Volume (t / MWh) *

Net mass in tonnes per year; for electricity (2716 00 00) in MWh.

Emission data

Verified installation data from the supplier, or the Commission default value (with a 10% surcharge).

Explanation

With default values the tool uses the default emission factor of the selected CN code and adds a 10% surcharge to the embedded emissions. Verified supplier data avoid that surcharge.

Emission factor (tCO₂e per t or MWh)

Verified data only: the supplier’s specific embedded emissions. Empty = the CN code default. Ignored when "Default value" is selected.

Origin carbon price (Art. 9, €/tCO₂e)

Carbon price effectively paid in the country of origin (Art. 9 CBAM Regulation), deductible up to the certificate price. Empty = no deduction.
